Everything Went Black

Everything Went Black was played consistently throughout their 2014 & 2015 tours. It was played a couple of times during their tour supporting Yours before being dropped completely.

The original version of this song is vastly different. It features movie samples, a drum-groove reminiscent of songs like Monotonie or Gentleman of the Year, more upbeat vocals and a lot of bass synths. The song eventually fades out with a touching combination of chords and vocals.

[Intro]

Hello?

[Verse 1]

Her name was Rita, the whore

La vida loca for sure

She knocked 'em out of the park

Streetwalkin' holes in her shoes

Another sip of the booze

And everything went black

[Verse 2]

His name was Norman OG

Don't you come cryin' to me

The day that changed his life

He married Rita, the whore

La vida loca no more

He said „Be back in no time“

What is it?

[Chorus 1]

Calls for a cigarette (Yes)

As good as it can get (Fresh)

And kill some time

It's never comin' back

It's never comin' back

[Verse 3]

Forward to Mary and Steve

Just turnin' twenty and free

She really liked his style

Attracted over the moon

They got together and soon

She was expecting a child

[Chorus 2]

Calls for a cigarette

As good as it can get

And kill some time

It's never comin' back

Calls for a cigarette

So don't you wanna bet

And kill some time?

Who, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

The calls for a cigarette

As good as it can get

And kill some time

It's never comin' back

[Bridge]

She caught an evil disease

It broke her down to her knees

Eventually took her life, wooh

A-a-a-a-a-a-a, and when Steve heard the news

Took out the doctor she used

And left the scene with a smile

And left the scene with a

Smile

[Outro]

It's never comin' back

Calls for a cigarette

As good as it can get

And kill some time, sing it!

It's never comin' back

It's never comin' back, that's right

Never comin' back, say what?

It's never comin' back, uh-huh
