Ain't Complaining
Ain't Complaining was vaguely inspired by The Strokes. When presenting the song to The Strokes' producer, Gordon Raphael, who helped with vocals for Smack Smash, he noticed it's inspiration and said it sounds familiar.
The song was a live staple until their Boombox tour, which is when they started playing a new piano version of it.Â
[Verse 1]
You got me one more time on the telephone
I had a hard time making the call
What you're dying about is drying me out
And what is coming is taking control
[Pre-Chorus]
After you laid off your medication
I feel hungover, cut the connection
[Chorus]
I got no reason to communicate
Got no reason to communicate
Know where your story goes
Nowhere but down below
Ain't complaining
[Verse 2]
Anything near you, worth the attention
I cut the cord off my telephone
You're not wasting my precious time
What you're on about is just wearing me out
And I've been, I've been trying for too long
